La bellezza

Sunday’s posts are dedicated to Italian Poetry

la conoscenza non è
l’intuizione della bellezza

non colpisce allo stesso modo
nè affonda come una radice sottile

nutrendo l’anima come
una pupilla dilatata che si apre

alla meraviglia
la bellezza è spontanea

    • I’m fully bilingual yes. I used to speak fluently four languages and a bit of two more but lack of practice lead me to use mainly only two. What languages do you speak beside English?

      • Wow that’s awesome . I am not fully bilingual as of yet but im studying Russian and studied French and Spanish for years but am not fluent in any lol. I just know bits and pieces mostly conversational. Eventually, I aspire to be fluent in Russian because I just love that language and always have been drawn to it . Russian and French:) that’s awesome that you’re bilingual. Are you self-taught?

        • No, I’m not… or maybe yes… I took a full immersion course of English in my teens as I hated English in school in Italy. Full immersion was my cup of tea, painful and super expensive yes, but it worked. I was in a class room eight hours at day with a bunch of different teachers (one at a time) from different countries as I wanted international English and not just one accent. Then I travelled constantly since then, living in foreign countries and also studying there. I think when studying a language we need tutors for basics and corrections but practice on the field is fundamental, it rises your survival skills.

        • Wow English is not your first language? Wow you’re an incredible inspiration oh my gosh. That definitely sounds like it was tough but obviously worth it wow you’re very well versed. Also sorry I keep riding wow so much I’m just very surprised and impressed not going to lie. I do agree though when I was a senior in high school I had a friend from Ukraine she was an exchange student and she taught me the fundamentals of Russian like the alphabet and pronunciation and obviously I feel like without her I wouldn’t have been able to start studying independently because she taught me the fundamentals.

        • Double and triple wow are fine, don’t worry 😉 Now that I left the States and I’m back in Italy I wonder at the immigrants we have here either from Russia or Ukraine or North Africa that, although some of them have here very humble jobs, they speak amazingly well minimum two languages that have, on top of it, two different alphabets!! Thank you for your compliments on me being well versed, poetry is such an important artistic vehicle for me. Words have such power – but then, so does silence 😁 I found out while I was writing California Notebooks in Southern California!!

        • Th at is true. They say ood you really want someone to listen you should speak quietly so they’re forced to be quiet enough to hear you. Lol I’m doubtful that would with every listener haha but it’s a neat idea. How is the weather in Italy? I’ve always wondered. I’ve never been there. Did you enjoy living in the states?

        • Learning a language without somebody kind of showing you to start is definitely really tough even with all the videos on YouTube that are out there. I’m really grateful that I had her help. That really is incredible that you learned that wow
