Solitude Serves Me Well

Standard

*

before is the bird’s
song and the occasional
car passing by

then the refrigerator
freezing while shaking
the hot water boiler

or an airplane
far away the mailman
comes dropping

volumes of papers
we need to lift glance
at a minute then dispose

that’s how days roll
away how solitude
serves me well

Sunny Awakenings

Standard

*

was dreaming of

sunny awakenings

sweet cuddling and words

few – tight together

.

was getting out to say

good morning – gratitude

will not fail me

a smile in spite

of everything

.

I will hold

happiness

between

my hands

Indian Wells

Standard

*

I will not
repeat what
flowers tell me

as I walk by
at sunrise

their opening
to daylight

exhaling joy
it will stay
as gentle breeze

compressed
in shells shapes

to the sides of
my curious head

Dreams From The California Notebooks 2015

Standard

*
every morning
I wake up
do I

to the same
palm trees tops
the same mountain

yet the back drop
is never the same
nothing is ever

always enchanting
me with new tricks
as I try I do not fail

when I face another
day another dream
gratitude comes

each time
not always
easily
