I left the valley
green and humid
where wind was but
a rare guest for
the coast to be blown
away by crosswinds
sunlight and waves running
around with my wet suit
catching waves long
trips to the unknown
marine depths now I find
myself in the desert away
from things experienced
before synced in with my
passion for the new
landscapes of the spirit

from among the metal bars
escape the road runners
away from the golf fields
me wishing to follow the
band of elderly retiree
who drive further into
the desert to sit time
at hand to watch the
migratory birds being
stopped by no borders
unlimited beauty

early mornings awakenings
one step after another
a habits that sets
me on the way
who do I meet
on my path
if not wounded
travellers
a shy roadrunner
without a claw
a shiny large crow
with a broken wing
and then there’s me
mending my dreams

every one works
to make the land
more beautiful
sprinklers sing
water jumping
up in the air
birds grooming
their songs
elderly women
with rolls walking
their poodles
old pick up trucks
filled with new
flowers to plant
slowly driving by
